This course is aimed at those wishing to pursue advanced studies in IT leading to an internationally recognised and respected qualification and a future professional career in IT.
Entry Requirements:
(Pre-registration with the BCS is required)
• Age: 19 years and over, and
• a pass in BCS Diploma stage or a related qualification accepted by BCS
Course Structure:
The Professional Graduate Diploma in IT is the academic equivalent to Year 3 of a UK university honours degree.
Main modules for the Professional Graduate Diploma are (students should focus on four of the following):
• Advanced Database Management Systems
• Software Engineering 2
• Distributed and Parallel Systems)
• Network Information Systems
• Realising the User Interface
• Web Engineering
• Management Information Systems
• Computer Services Management
• Knowledge Based Systems
• Programming Paradigms
• System Design Methods
And
• Complete a Professional Project
Method of Assessment:
One 3 hour written examination based on the four chosen modules and completion of a professional project.
Progression:
On successful completion of the examination and professional project students can apply for BCS Professional Membership. Students may apply to selected Universities to pursue postgraduate studies in IT.
