Aimed at:
This course is aimed at those wishing to pursue further studies in IT leading to an internationally recognised and respected qualification and a future professional career in IT. It provides an opportunity to gain early recognition of your IT skills.
Entry Requirements:
(Pre-registration with the BCS is required)
• Age:19 years or more, and
• a pass in BCS Certificate stage or a related qualification accepted by BCS
Course Structure:
Diploma in IT of the British Computer Society is the academic equivalent to Year 2 of a UK university honours degree.
The course consists of:
• Professional Issues in Information Systems Practice (Core Module)
AND any three from the following options:
• Computer Networks
• Database Systems
• IT Project Management
• Object Oriented Programming
• Systems Analysis
• Principles of Internet Technologies
• IT Service Management
• Software Engineering 1
• Systems Design
• Principles of User Interface Design
Method of Assessment:
A 2 hour written exam on the core module, 2 hour written exam on the three optional modules of your choice and completion of a professional project.
Progression:
On successful completion of the BCS Diploma in IT examinations students are eligible to apply for BCS Membership if they have 3 years’ experience as an IT professional.
On completion of the professional project, students are eligible to apply for BCS Membership (MBCS) if you have 2 years’ experience as an IT professional. Students may proceed to the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT or apply for a degree course at selected Universities.
